Jakarta, May 13, 2026 — A warm and caring atmosphere filled the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) on Wednesday (13/5). The Jaga Ginjal Indonesia Foundation, collaborating with the Berbagi Cahaya Imlek Foundation, held a social event to distribute boiled eggs to hemodialysis (dialysis) patients.
This initiative is a real form of support for chronic kidney failure patients who must undergo regular dialysis to maintain their quality of life.
The event was attended by the Vice Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, and greeted warmly by Brig. Gen. dr. Jonny, Head of the Medical Committee at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, who highly appreciated this humanitarian collaboration.
Why Boiled Eggs?
According to the organizers, boiled eggs were chosen to help maintain the health of chronic kidney failure patients, especially those with low albumin (protein) levels.
The high protein content in eggs is crucial to supporting the effectiveness of their dialysis treatment, ensuring more optimal health outcomes.
A Hospital That Feels Like Home
During her visit, Irene Umar shared how moved she was to see the close bond between the medical staff and patients at RSPAD.
"When patients see the doctors, their faces instantly light up. It shows that the care here comes straight from the heart. The patients even view RSPAD as their second home," Irene said.
She also praised the family-like atmosphere in the hospital, where doctors, nurses, and patients constantly give each other emotional support.
"From the nurses to the medical staff, everyone serves with a smile and a lot of love. It creates an incredible positive energy for the patients," she added.
Future Plans: Empowering Women, Children, and the Economy
Veronica Tan, the founder of the Berbagi Cahaya Imlek Foundation and Vice Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, sent a statement via the Jaga Ginjal Indonesia Foundation. She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting kidney failure patients in Indonesia.
"Moving forward, we will strengthen our support for kidney failure patients, especially mothers and children, to ensure they get the proper attention and care they deserve," Veronica stated.
Beyond health support, Irene Umar revealed that her team is designing a creative economy empowerment program for kidney failure patients. The goal is to help them stay productive and financially independent.
"We want to make sure they don't struggle financially. We want them to still earn an income and live independently despite their illness," Irene explained.
A Weekly Routine of Emotional Support
The Advisory Board Member of the Jaga Ginjal Indonesia Foundation, Mr. Anityo, explained that distributing boiled eggs has been a routine weekly program since the foundation was established.
According to him, the program does more than just boost patients' albumin levels—it also serves as a space for emotional support and connection.
"Here, patients can meet up, share positive energy, and uplift one another to stay strong through their treatments," he said.
This event at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto is just the beginning. The foundations plan to expand this initiative to various hospitals across Indonesia to help even more patients.
A Rising Concern: Kidney Failure in Children
The event also highlighted a concerning trend: the rising number of children requiring dialysis in Indonesia.
